This recipe can be made either in the Ninja Foodi pressure cooker or using its air fryer air crisp function. I prefer pressure cooking method more.
Pressure cooker method

Air fryer method
- Wash and scrub sweet potatoes. Using a fork, poke holes in potatoes and spray them with oil (or brush them).
- Place sweet potatoes in the Ninja Foodi crisping basket and close the AIR CRISP lid. Air fry at 400 degrees for 35 minutes.
- Cooking time depend on potatoes size. Add more minutes if needed.
- Serve with your favorite toppings.

Tips for baking potatoes
Wash and scrub your potatoes. Sweet potatoes have thicker skin than regular white potatoes so it's important to thoroughly wash them before cooking. Scrub them under running water to remove any dirt or residue.
Brush the potatoes with oil if you are cooking them in the air fryer. This helps the skin to crisp up nicely. At this time, you could also sprinkle it with salt, or any of your favorite herbs and spices.
It's best to cook similar-sized potatoes. If they are all the same size they will cook at the same rate, so you don't have some over or undercooked.
Frequently asked questions
Yams are a dry, starchy vegetable similar to white potatoes but with an earthy taste. They have a rough brown exterior and white flesh.
Sweet potatoes are sometimes referred to as yams but they are not the same vegetable. Having orange-colored flesh, and smooth red skin, they are much sweeter and creamier.
Sweet potatoes are a very healthy vegetable. They are naturally sweet and high in vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Baked sweet potatoes are also low in fat and very high in fiber.
Yes, just like white potatoes, the skin of sweet potatoes can be eaten as well! It is filled with nutrients, and crisps up nicely when air fried.
Only cook as many potatoes as will comfortably fit in a single layer. You don't want them stacked or stuffed inside your pressure cooker or air fryer, because this can impact the cooking time and they may not cook evenly. For this recipe, 3 medium-sized sweet potatoes fit inside my Ninja Foodi.
Storage
Store leftover pressure cooked sweet potatoes in the air tight container in the fridge for up to one week.
