Turning on the oven during the summer isn't always fun and if you just want to make something that the whole family will love, these air fryer State Fair corn dogs are always a hit!
They are made with 100% beef hot dogs, dipped in a sweet honey cornbread batter. Air fried to perfection, they taste just like the state fair without the high price and without having to leave your home!
How to make state fair corn dogs in air fryer
I keep all the corn dogs in the freezer right in the box. They are individually wrapped so its easy to keep them separated if you only have have like half of the package left. Very convenient!
Pull out the desired number of corn dogs. Open the plastic package and place corn dogs in the air fryer basket. There is no need to add any oil to the air fryer.
You can use air fryer liners for easy clean up but its not necessarily. The basket will be almost clean after either way.
Cook until desired crispiness and heated all the way through. Please see notes in the recipe card below. Once done, carefully pull state fair corn dogs out of air fryer and serve with ketchup or mustard.
Why use the air fryer
The air fryer is a great kitchen appliance to have. It is a convection oven, which means it uses hot air to cook your food instead of hot coils. A fan circulates the hot air to perfectly and evenly crisp up your food with little to no added oil.
The air fryer is awesome to use if you love deep-fried foods but want to lower your oil intake. Because of the air fryer's convection system, you can still get that deep-fried taste and texture, but in a healthier and easier way.
Why i love this recipe
The air fryer is especially helpful when making frozen fried foods because it gets everything perfectly crispy in a much shorter amount of time than cooking in an oven or in the microwave.
Would you like to save this?
These State Fair corn dogs in the air fryer will rival any corn dogs from the oven or freshly deep-fried. The cornbread batter gets so crispy and delicious and the hot dog on the inside stays juicy and tender. In only 10 minutes, you have a super easy snack for your kids that they will enjoy!
Tips for getting the best corn dogs
Don't crowd the basket. The air fryer works to circulate hot air around your food, so it's important to leave enough room so all the surfaces can get crispy. Work in batches if you are making corn dogs for a crowd!
Stick corn dogs vs mini corn dogs. For this recipe, I am using the regular stick State Fair corn dogs, but if you are using the mini corn dogs instead, reduce the cooking time by a few minutes so they don't overcook.
Don't stack your food. Always air fry frozen corn dogs in a single layer, so all the sides can get crispy.
Other brands. If you are using a different brand than the State Fair brand, keep an eye on your air fryer, because your corn dogs might cook faster or slower depending on the size and thickness of the batter or hot dog.
Frequently asked questions
Frozen corn dogs are already cooked, so we are actually reheating them until the batter is crispy and the hot dogs inside are warmed through. They are ready when the outside is nicely golden brown. This only takes a few minutes.
Nope! The sticks might look a little darker in color and get very hot once the corn dogs are cooked, but they won't burn!
No, frozen corn dogs don't need to the thawed beforehand. For most frozen fried foods, it's not recommended to thaw because the food can become soggy and not get as crispy when cooked.
A top reason why your State Fair corn dogs may not be getting crispy in the air fryer is that the basket is crowded. If there are too many corn dogs in the air fryer at once, they can start to steam instead of getting crispy. If you need to, work in batches for the best results!
Leftovers
If you have any leftovers, its easy to store them in the fridge for up to 5 days. Just wrap them in foil or place in the airtight plastic or glass container. Reheat in the air fryer for couple minutes.

Do you pre-heat the air fryer for this recipe? Also, what air fryer do you use?
Tatiana
hi, no i don't
Randy Batzer
Most air fryers recommend preheating. So yes. Preheat.
Tatiana
In most cases preheating is a worthless step. Unless you cook a steak or similar
Bibi
