a scoop of cranberry sauce on wooden spatula

Jiggly, tart and sweet, bright and festive cranberry sauce is a holiday dinner staple. But honestly, we love to eat this delicious condiment made with fresh cranberries any time of the year! My Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO Cranberry Sauce recipe makes it easy to cook up a batch no matter when your occasion calls for a perky side dish that's sure to please.

This vibrant homemade cranberry sauce pairs well with all kinds of meats and starchy, carb-y sides. The tangy and sweet berry relish adds a nice bit of contrast to an otherwise hearty and heavy comfort food meal... Brimming with cranberries, sugar and orange juice, it has plenty of sweetness and balances the richer foods without "stealing the show."

    ingredients needed for this recipe

Making cranberry sauce from scratch is basically just as easy in a Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO as it is on the stove. But using the Ninja Foodi is definitely the best way to save space on the stovetop for preparing other dishes!

You can make this recipe in only about 15 minutes from start to finish; then choose whether to serve warm, cool to room temperature, or make ahead and chill in the fridge before serving. I promise, you won't miss that canned cranberry sauce stuff one bit! Own a Ninja Foodi? Here is a great Ninja Foodi cranberry sauce recipe for you!

    Recipe ingredients

Cranberries. Rinse fresh cranberries in cold water, making sure to pick out any possible debris leftover from harvesting. Cranberry blueberry bread is nice to use those leftover cranberries as well.

Sugar. We use granulated white sugar in this Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO cranberry sauce recipe. But coconut sugar is also a great option. It isn't quite as sweet, so the tartness of the cranberries shines through a bit more.

Orange juice. Fresh squeezed orange juice is the best. Otherwise, use a simple bottled OJ that doesn't have any added sugar or other fillers.

Water. For the best taste use filtered water to boil the cranberries.

    Serving suggestions

Cranberry sauce is a must-have side dish for fall and winter holiday dinners, of course! It pairs perfectly with hearty meats like roasted Thanksgiving turkey breasts or a whole bird, whole roasted chicken, Christmas glazed ham or pork tenderloin, or any seasonal main dishes.

Serve Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO cranberry sauce alongside other classic comfort food sides like fluffy mashed potatoes and gravy, bread stuffing (or dressing), roasted root vegetables, and veggie casseroles like green bean and sweet potato casseroles.

Homemade cranberry relish is also delicious to use - warm or cold - as a condiment on sandwiches and wraps. Spoon it onto leftover turkey or ham sammies for a pop of sweetness to balance the savory meats!

It's even great to enjoy as a fruity spread with cheese and crackers. The tart cranberries go beautifully with soft brie or camembert cheese, hunks of sharp cheddar, and smooth and tangy goat cheese.

    Frequently asked questions

Can I make this recipe with frozen cranberries?

Yes, you can make cranberry sauce in the Ninja Foodi Possible Cooker PRO with frozen cranberries. Don't bother thawing them first. Add 1 or 2 minutes to the overall cooking time, but that should be about it.

Should cranberry sauce be served warm or cold?

That is entirely up to you! Cranberry sauce is often chilled before eating, but it's not a hard rule... I don't recommend serving it super hot right after boiling. But once it cools a bit you can serve warm or at room temperature for a more cozy-yet-still-bright sauce.

What takes the bitterness out of cranberry sauce?

The sweetness from the sugar and orange juice, which is also very acidic, help cut any bitter taste from the otherwise tart fresh cranberries. That is one of the many reasons I like making this recipe from scratch - so you can control the exact amount of sugar and OJ to make the sauce to your preferred level of sweetness!
