Recipe ingredients
Applesauce. Gives a rich apple flavor and subtle fruity sweetness.
Heavy cream. Used to achieve a smooth and creamy ice cream consistency.
Caramel sauce. For sweetness and to give the apple ice cream a sweet apple pie flavor.
How to make Ninja Creami apple pie ice cream
Before you start, make sure all your ingredients — heavy cream, apple puree, and caramel sauce — are ready, and that your blender is clean and in working condition. Start the process by pouring cream into the blender. This cream will serve as the base of your mixture, providing it with a rich and creamy texture.
After adding the cream, proceed with the apple puree. The puree will give the mixture a fresh and fruity flavor, with a natural touch of sweetness. Lastly, it's time to pour in the caramel sauce, which will enhance the sweetness and contribute a layer of complex flavor.
Once you've added all the ingredients, secure the blender's lid and blend until you get a smooth mixture. The blending time may vary depending on the power of your blender, but it's crucial that all the components are well combined. Now, pour the blended mixture into your Ninja Creami pint. Be sure to do this slowly to avoid spilling.
The next step is to freeze the mixture. Place the pint on a leveled surface in your freezer to prevent uneven freezing or spillage. The mixture should be left in the freezer for approximately 24 hours. It's important to allow enough time for the mixture to fully freeze to achieve the best consistency.
After the freezing time, it's time to turn your mixture into ice cream. Remove the Ninja Creami pint from the freezer and install it into the Ninja Creami machine according to the manufacturer's instructions. Then, select the "SORBET" setting on your Ninja Creami.
This setting will churn the frozen mixture, transforming it into a smooth, creamy dessert. If after the first spin the texture isn't to your liking, don't worry. You can add a splash of cream or milk and run the "SORBET" setting again. If needed, this step can be repeated once or twice more.
Once you have achieved your desired ice cream consistency, it's time to enjoy your homemade Ninja Creami apple ice cream.
Easy ice cream recipe
Homemade ice cream is delicious but it can be a time-consuming process so that's why I love to use my Ninja Creami ice cream maker. It makes ice cream almost effortlessly and the flavor possibilities are endless!
Would you like to save this?
If you are familiar with the Ninja Creami you start by blending or whisking the ingredients together to create the ice cream base. The base is frozen in a pint container for 24 hours. Then the Ninja Creami "shaves" the frozen mixture turning it into an impressive frozen sweet treat that tastes like soft serve ice cream.
This homemade ice cream tastes like sweet apple pie but it's healthier than traditional ice cream. It doesn't require cooking, eggs, or a ton of extra sugar.
Substitutions
Applesauce. You can use sweetened applesauce or a cinnamon-spiced version if you like.
Heavy cream. Replace with half and half for a lighter ice cream.
Caramel sauce. You can melt soft caramels with a splash of evaporated milk. Alternatively, you can use sweetened condensed milk with a tiny bit of vanilla extract instead!
Variations
If you want more of a spiced apple pie flavor add ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon or apple pie spice to the ice cream base.
Add ¼ teaspoon of pure vanilla extract for a richer flavor.
If you would like a sweeter ice cream add a little bit of light brown sugar to the ice cream base.
Serve with crushed graham crackers, a sprinkle of ground cinnamon, more applesauce or sauteed apples, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
Frequently asked questions
You can use frozen fruit inside of your Ninja Creami ice cream maker as long as you blend them first. Frozen chunks of fruit are very hard and can possibly damage the machine blades because it's designed for ice cream bases that are already blended.
Ninja Creami ice cream can turn out icy if your freezer is too cold or if your recipe doesn't contain enough fat. Avoid using low-fat or fat-free milk or cream because the extra fat gives your ice cream the perfect creamy consistency.
Yes! Canned fruit, fresh, or frozen fruit can be used in the Ninja Creami. Just keep in mind that you might need to adjust the recipe you are using to accommodate the different versions of fruit used. Fresh fruit may need extra sweeteners, canned fruit can contain a lot of extra sugar or liquid, and frozen fruit usually needs to be defrosted and/or blended before using!
You can but you might not get the best results. It's recommended to wait the full 24 hours so that your ice cream is as smooth and creamy as possible. Otherwise, it can turn out icy or too liquidity.
Storage instructions
You can double the recipe and pour the mixture in to two pint size containers. Use one in 24 hours and keep another one for later use. If you have any Ninja Creami apple ice cream leftovers, just smooth the ice cream on top as much as possible, place the lid on the jar and place it in the freezer.
Before enjoying it again, just let sit on the counter for 3-5 minutes to thaw for a bit. You can re-spin it if you feel like it needs it. I always re-spin for a better, creamier texture! This ice cream in general is not very creamy but after couple spins the texture is great!
