I love to use my Ninja Creami to make homemade ice cream because it's much less effort involved than the traditional ice cream process. This recipe requires a few ingredients and only takes 5 minutes to prep! Another added bonus is that because this Ninja Creami ice cream isn't filled with large amounts of sugar it is a much healthier dessert option.
This Ninja Creami peanut butter ice cream is so creamy, delicious, and filled with so much peanut butter flavor. You can serve it as is or add your favorite mixins for a truly irresistible treat!
How to make Ninja Creami peanut butter ice cream
This recipe is as easy as my other Ninja Creami ice cream recipes. You will need peanut butter, pick the creamy one, heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract. Adjust sugar amount based on how much sugar is already in your peanut butter.
Add all the ingredients in to your blender or food processor. Blend until fully combined but the mixture is not fluffy. You don't want it to become whipped cream.
Pour the mixture to your Ninja Creami plastic pint container and place in the freezer on the leveled surface. Freezer for about 24 hours.
Next day install the pint in to your Ninja Creami machine and push the ice cream button. Re-spin once or twice to achieve desired consistency. Serve immediate, it melts fast.
Recipe ingredients
Creamy peanut butter. The star of this ice cream recipe!
Heavy cream. Used instead of milk or half and half because its high-fat content adds the perfect amount of rich creaminess to this Ninja creami ice cream recipe.
Sugar. Regular white sugar for sweetness.
Vanilla extract. Pure vanilla extract is a delicious addition and enhances the flavors of the other ingredients.
Substitutions
Sugar. Use light brown sugar for added richness and to give a nice caramel flavor to the ice cream.
Peanut butter. Any brand will work, however, some brands of peanut butter might be sweeter or saltier than others, therefore changing the flavor of your ice cream. Alternatively, if you are allergic to peanuts consider using sunflower butter, soy butter, or almond butter instead!
Would you like to save this?
Heavy cream. Use coconut cream or vegan heavy cream to make this Ninja creami ice cream dairy free.
Variations
Peanut butter lovers - add in swirls of peanut butter, roasted and salted peanuts, or peanut butter cups.
Chocolate peanut butter ice cream - add 1 - 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder to the ice cream base.
A sprinkle of flaky salt or kosher salt gives the ice cream a delicious sweet and salty flavor.
Ninja Creami mixins - mini chocolate chips, chocolate pieces, or marshmallow fluff.
Serving ideas - A drizzle of warm chocolate sauce, hot fudge, or whipped cream.
Frequently asked questions
The main reason your ice cream might be icy is there wasn't enough fat or sugar in your recipe. Use heavy cream instead of low-fat milk so that your ice cream turns out smooth and creamy. Also using enough sugar will help achieve a softer texture.
Lastly, check and see if your freezer is too cold. If it is, allowing the ice cream to sit on the counter for a few minutes before serving can help with this problem!
Yes, similar to a traditional ice cream bowl, the Ninja Creami ice cream base needs to be frozen for at least 24 hours before mixing for the best results.
Yes, while the Ninja creami ice cream will taste the best as soon as you finish mixing it, it can be refrozen if you need to serve it at a later time. Simply run it through the Re-Spin cycle when you are ready to serve!
You can, but your ice cream might not be as creamy. You can add 2 - 4 tablespoons of softened cream cheese to your ice cream base for added richness if necessary.
Why use Ninja Creami
I love using the Ninja Creami Ice cream machine to make homemade ice cream because there isn’t any whipping or churning involved. You can simply combine all the ingredients together and then freeze for 24 hours. At the press of a button, the powerful blades of the machine shave the frozen ice cream base and turn it into a creamy pint of ice cream.
It takes only a few minutes to combine all the ingredients together and then pop it into the freezer. You can add whatever mixins you like and because this recipe is so easy, you can make it with your kids.
Leftovers
You can double the recipe and pour the mixture in to two pint size containers. Use one in 24 hours and keep another one for later use. If you have any Ninja Creami peanut butter ice cream leftovers, just smooth the ice cream on top as much as possible, place the lid on the jar and place it in the freezer.
Before enjoying it again, just let sit on the counter for 3-5 minutes to thaw for a bit. You can re-spin it if you feel like it needs it. I always re-spin for a better, creamier texture!
