Recipe ingredients
The great thing about this recipe is that you only need two ingredients and an air fryer. Super easy!
Box of frozen coconut shrimp. Can be found in the frozen seafood section of most grocery stores. I used the ones from Trader Joe's, but any brand will work for this recipe.
Oil spray. Just a little bit to keep the shrimp from sticking to the air fryer basket.
How to make air fryer frozen coconut shrimp
Once you get that delicious frozen coconut shrimp from Trader Joe's there is not much work you need to do. Open the plastic package of frozen shrimp. Spray air fryer basket with some oil spray, i used an olive oil spray. Lay coconut shrimp in even layer and place the basket back in to the air fryer.
Cook until shrimp is golden in color, about 10 minutes. There is no need to flip it during cooking, you can shake the basket once or twice though. Serve with tartar sauce, ketchup or sour cream mixed with minced garlic and dill (my favorite!).
How do I cook frozen breaded shrimp in the oven
If you don't have an air fryer, or would rather cook the shrimp in the oven, you can.
Just preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Then line a sheet pan with parchment paper or spray it with a little bit of cooking oil so the shrimp doesn't stick. Spread the shrimp out in an even layer. Bake for 10 - 13 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. Serve hot.

Easy frozen air fryer appetizer
Trader Joe's is a great store to get fun and interesting new foods at affordable prices. This seafood appetizer is no different. While coconut and shrimp is not a new combination, it's super easy to make right out of the box, tastes great, and is reasonably priced.
At $6 a box for roughly 15 pieces of breaded shrimp, it makes a great snack or quick dinner. They are quick to make, so it's nice to keep a box or two in the freezer for a quick go-to meal.
Air fryer frozen coconut shrimp is healthier than deep-fried and they get crispier than cooked in the oven. The box has instructions for cooking these shrimp in the oven, but you might find that they are not as crispy as you would like and they can turn out a little soggy.
If you really want that crispy crunchy breading, cooking them in the air fryer is the way to go. You won't have to wait for the oven to preheat, and the breading will be much better. All around amazing results.
